This month's meeting will be held at Dave & Busters Plymouth Meeting
Tuesday Jan 13, 2026
The meeting will start at 6pm
and end at 9:00 pm
Board meeting will start at 5pm
Our speaker this month is our own Miko Wright's dad, John Wright, He spent 9 years in the US Navy 5 of which was in Viet Nam. During that time aboard ship he got a degree in Architectural Engineering. Went to work at U S Plywood at their Brewster, New York, Product Development Laboratory, and then at their Specialty Product Plant in Cattaraugus, NY. Eventually ending up as Chief Engineer here in Hatfield, Pa, developing new products and installation systems for the architectural market. John developed most of their new products and installation systems to improve product performance and durability. He provided test results and reports to answer the needs of the installers and building owners at Architectural testing labs around the country. Their products met fire test and easy installation needs around the world. He spent a lot of time teaching installers how to do their jobs quickly, effectively and below cost estimates.
John learned how to teach to fellow navy machinists converting engineering sectional drawings into cartoons. He found them equally effective in teaching installers to complex fabrications into a simple series of cuts that fit together easily with simple but long lasting and inexpensive parts.
Installations these days need to be simple, strong and control water and fire in buildings. John used cartoons and simple drawings in our literature. He used my mathematics degree to develop simple measuring systems that made complex shapes fit and stay flat. He also learned how to use weather and moisture flow software to model buildings using our products.
Come here an interesting talk this month! You will learn some interesting things!
Meeting will take place in the conference rooms in the rear of the Dave and Buster restaurant.
